About UNEP FI
UNEP FI is a unique global partnership between the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the global financial sector. UNEP FI works closely with over 180 financial institutions that are signatories to the UNEP FI Statements, and a range of partners and organizations to develop and promote linkages between the environment, sustainability and financial performance. Every other year, UNEP FI holds its Global Roundtable, a flagship finance & sustainability event that brings together FIs and stakeholders from across the globe.

About the BES work stream & water work stream
The BES work stream assists the financial services sector in addressing the challenges arising from the loss of biodiversity and the degradation of ecosystem services.

The UNEP FI work on water builds on the need to create awareness and capacity among the financial community in order to promote their proactive approach towards water issues.

Tasks & Responsibilities:
The prospective intern will assist the Programme Manager to carry out UNEP FI programme of works for Biodiversity & Ecosystem Services work stream and the Water & Finance work stream. This internship position entails tasks including but not limited to:

· Support with the Natural Value Initiative (see www.naturalvalueinitiative.org)
· Support with other BES work stream activities, including assistance with day-to-day coordination of both work streams (general liaison, setting up meetings/webinars, minute-taking)
· Assistance in putting together publications (e.g. Chief Liquidity Series, CEO Briefings, other reports and brochures).

Requirements:
· Academic background in environmental or ecological economics; natural resource management; economics; environmental law
· Strong organisational skills & attention to detail
· Fluency in English required, fluency in further languages an asset
· Excellent oral and written communications skills
· Good interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain good working relations in a multicultural and geographically disperse environment
· Solid IT skills (Ms Word, Excel, PPT, etc)
· Availability for 4-6 months

Place of Work:
Geneva, at UNEP FI Headquarters.

Duration:
UNEP FI is seeking to fill this position ideally for a 6-month period, starting as soon as possible.

Grist - Grist, the main source for environment news, has been around for a long time. Their new website includes a strong jobs board.
 

TreeHugger- A favorite of Leigh Favret.  Similar to StopDoDo but more US based.  They get about 5 listings per day.
 

Bright Green Talent - With offices in the UK and San Francisco, this recruiting firm often has jobs in the environmental sector.
 

Clean Edge - a source for clean-tech jobs.
 

Allen&York - UK recruiters with environment and sustainability jobs worldwide.
 

Recluta - a search and selection consultancy out of the UK.  They seem heavy on engineering but include sustainability.

Sustain Jobs - A new site focusing on renewable energy and climate change jobs.
 

Green Jobs - This is the one stop shop for solar related jobs.
 

Environment Jobs UK - Several nonprofit and public sector environmental posts in the UK.
 

StopDoDo- From Beth Gelfand. A portal for environmental and NGO related jobs.  Very international.  Several Africa jobs.
 

Eco Employ - From Karen Seeh. Stronger on nonprofit environmental jobs that corporate. Downside, too many pop-ups on this site.
 

Green Jobs International- a German-based meta site identifies green jobs all over the world but mostly Europe. 
 

Environmental Career - Also from Karen Seeh. These jobs are more for people with environmental degrees than MBAs. Sustainable Business - See Green Dreams above.
 

Cool Climate Jobs- Also from Beth Gelfand, these jobs have the word "climate" and "carbon" in the title.
 

Low Carbon- mostly UK jobs around mitigating effects of climate  change.

Non-Profit Jobs
 

NonProfitOyster - The Oyster has a powerful job searching database for positions in the US and Canada.
 

OpportunityNOCs - OK includes both a powerful search engine and a resume posting option for US-based opportunities.
 

Zoosa- Includes all jobs under ISR, Issue of Social Responsibility
 

Bridgestar - An initiative of the Bridgespan Group, this site provides nonprofit career-matching services.
 

ExecSearches.com - Lists nonprofit positions from the executive to mid-level.
 

Tides Foundation - Based in San Francisco, Tides Foundation is an incubator for social and environmental nonprofits. They list positions for Tides and Tides grantees.
 

EthicalCareers.org - Based in the UK, this site has a few job listings and promotes a book entitled "The Ethical Careers Guide". They also provide a "web directory" of other job links in the UK nonprofit jobs space.

Idealist - A great job search engine with several international NGO opportunities.
 

Development Aid- Impressive and fairly new site.  Includes a section on tenders/RFPs with a strong search engine but does not include USAID.
 

AlertNet - From Brenda Holoboff in Canada, another great resource and strong search engine specializing in humanitarian aid.
 

OneWorld.net - Provides listing of job opportunities in a handful of developing countries and the UK.
 

DevNetJobs - A volunteer driven initiative to circulate job listings.
 

Global Recruitment - This company is headed by Patrick Shields, an international development recruiter.
 

Careers United - A new site not just for Americans.
 

Monday's Developments - Before the internet, Monday's Developments was the only resource for international developments jobs.
 

Devex - A recommendation from Lorene Flaming, this is the source for many USAID contract related jobs.
 

Relief Web - Also from Brenda, disaster and relief positions.
 

VSO - Non-Brits often overlook VSO which opens its door to people from many nations. VSO is similar to Peace Corps but the volunteers have more pertinent work experience.

Philanthropy Jobs
 

Foundation Center - With resource offices in major cities around the US, the Foundation Center's Philanthropy New Digest lists jobs focused in philanthropy and fundraising.
 

Chronicle of Philanthropy - The Chronicle of Philanthropy lists job opportunities largely in the nonprofit and grant making arena.
